The Forward Controls Design ASF-90 Command Actuation Edition combines a traditional 90-degree throw with the snap-action feel of a short-throw safety — the Command Actuation center uses a detent system that snaps the selector to the intended position once the lever passes 45 degrees, and returns to the previous position if the user reverses course before that midpoint. Intentional actuation feels fast and decisive; accidental or incomplete rotation is self-correcting.

The ASF-90-CA is a semi-auto 90-degree throw ambidextrous safety selector with standard non-offset levers and Command Actuation center, compatible with standard AR-15/.223 lower receivers. Centers and levers are billet machined from 8620 steel, heat treated, and black nitrided. Made in the USA.

The standard levers use serrations parallel to the lever’s length — a deliberate choice based on how the thumb actually interacts with the lever during rotation. As the selector rotates, the thumb slides along the lever’s length; serrations perpendicular or diagonal to that motion create friction with no benefit, while parallel serrations resist only lateral movement without impeding the sliding motion. The lever’s outer profile is tapered rather than square to conform to the natural angle of the thumb pad against the pistol grip. The lever-to-center interface uses a stainless steel roll pin that provides immense holding strength while handling no actuating load. The 8620 billet center and levers are heat treated and black nitrided for hardness and corrosion resistance throughout.
